Max Weinbergs Jukebox Plays the Beatles Payomet Performing Arts Center July 8

It's become a tradition that the summertime music season kicks off on Memorial Twenty-four hours weekend with the opening of the Greatcoat Cod Tune Tent box office in Hyannis.

And while that takes place at apex Lord's day, the Payomet Performing Arts Eye in North Truro will gets its warm-weather (we hope) season rolling this weekend with Irish gaelic singer Karan Casey performing Sat nighttime at the Elks Music Hall in Eastham. The legendary Judy Collins will take the phase Dominicus night at the Tilden Arts Center at Cape Cod Community College in West Barnstable, and then folk-pop string band Twisted Pine volition play May 31 at Wellfleet Preservation Hall (both shows co-presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts).

As always, Payomet and the Melody Tent have a variety of acts coming this summer.

Al Jardine, a founding member of the Beach Boys, volition bring his "A Postcard From California" bout – named after his virtually recent solo album – to the Payomet tent July 23. According to Payomet, he'll perform Beach Boys and solo music, along with telling stories from his career.

Another performer known for his work with a supergroup, drummer Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Ring, will pb Max Weinberg's Jukebox as it plays Beatles music on July 8 at Payomet.

The Melody Tent has showcased many state performers in recent years, and 2019 will be no exception. The duo Brothers Osborne, whose "I Don't Remember Me (Before You lot)" has hit the Billboard charts, will visit for the first time on Aug. 22.

Other country acts coming include some other start-timer, Jamey Johnson, June 21; Kip Moore, June 29; Lee Brice (limited tickets), July 19; Aaron Lewis, July 27; country rockers Poco, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Pure Prairie League in the "Ultimate '70s Tour," Aug. 18; and Texas trio Midland, Aug. 25.

Even popular singer Gavin DeGraw (Aug. 11) recently told the website Taste of Country that he would consider "going country" if the opportunity arose. Plus, Dark Desert Eagles, an Eagles tribute band featuring sometime Extreme member Pat Badger, will appear at the Tent for the start fourth dimension on July 28, and the Eagles' rock certainly has a strong land influence. Shows for country acts the Avett Brothers (June 19) and Brett Eldredge (Aug. nine) take already sold out.

If country isn't to your liking (or even if it is), at that place'south plenty more than from which to cull.

The Squeeze duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, known for such memorable tunes as "Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)," "Tempted" and "Black Java in Bed," are coming Aug. 27. Go the Led Out, playing the music of Led Zeppelin, will play July 26. Plus at that place's one-act, including two nights of Jim Gaffigan as part of his "Secrets and Pies Tour," Aug. 31 and Sept. one.

Foreigner (Aug. 23) has sold out, and there are limited tickets for blue-stone guitarist Joe Bonamassa (July 24).

The Zombies, recent inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will hit the North Truro stage on Aug. 25 with original members Colin Blunstone, lead vocals, and Rod Argent, on keyboards. Another Stone and Roll Hall of Famer, Dave Mason, from Traffic and his successful solo career, has get a Payomet regular. He'll be back Aug. 31.

Blueish Oyster Cult, featuring lead guitarist Cadet Dharma and lead singer Eric Bloom, will bring hard rock ("Don't Fright the Reaper") to the venue on Aug. 23.

Other highlights: The English Beat, June eight; solo acoustic shows of singer-guitarist Richard Thompson, June 29-30; Jonathan Richman, formerly of the Modern Lovers, July 1; Aimee Mann, whose "Save Me" from the film "Magnolia" earned an Oscar nomination, July ix; vocalizer R&B singer Bettye LaVette, July thirteen and a special brunch July xiv; indie folk stone duo the Milk Carton Kids, July 21; Jim Messina, formerly of Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and Loggins and Messina, Aug. 3.

And with Queen back in the news with last year'southward hit movie "Bohemian Rhapsody," the timing also seems right for the "Ultimate Queen Celebration," featuring Marc Martel, Aug. 12.
